The Promenade Planteé came on the old rail bed that extends from Place de la Bastille almost to Bois de Vincennes. The walk along the Promenade, which is situated at the equivalent of a building's third floor, is quite pleasant, offering a spectacular view of the city's rooftops and a quiet stroll unimpeded by vehicular intersections. The water in the middle of the Promenade brings a lot of rest. We strolled along the Promenade Plantée ten years ago after we bought our Romantic Montmartre Studio loft.
Under the arches of the Promenade you have the Viaduc des Arts : a series of working studios for craft artists , running alongside Avenue Daumesnil. With restaurants and outdoor cafés to complement the artists' workshops, it has a strong appeal to visitors .
