Parade for Ganesh 31/08

Ganesh, the god with the elephant head, is celebrated this weekend in the temples of the La Chapelle quarter and in the streets of " Little India" in the 18th arr.

The parade for Ganesh is a feast of colors and sound. Musicians and dansers open the parade where the coconuts are crusted. The coconut symbolises the illusion of the earth before the colorfull charriot of Ganesh did pass. The coconutflesh symbolises the individual Karma and the coconutwater someone's ego. While breaking the coconut someone is giving his heart to Ganesh.
