Montmartre Art track

Take Rue Lepic, behind Moulin Rouge and Musée de L'Erotisme. Make a detour at your left at Rue des Abbesses to visit the Cimetière de Montmartre and come back to Rue Lepic to see Van Gogh's home ( nr 54 Rue Lepic, 3th floor). Clamber up Rue Tholozé until you regain Rue Lepic, with its two evocative windmills.

Turn left into Rue Girardon, cross square St-Buisson and veer right through charming Allée des Brouillards ( Fog Alley).

Descend the stairs from Place Dalida into rue St-Vincent, passing the Cimetière St-Vincent. Turn right at the bohemian Lapin Agile and stagger past the vineyard.

Turn left into Rue Cortot, passing Montmartre's oldes house (now Musée de Montmartre) and Eric Satie's house ( nr 6).

Turn right at the water tower and left to reach Sacré Coeur for a stunning vista over Paris. Walk past the funicular station and ancient St-Pierre de Montmartre to touristy Place du Tertre.

Follow Rue Poulbot past the Dali museum. Descend the steps from Place du Calvaire into rue Gabrielle, turning right to reach Place Emile Goudeau and at nr 13, the rebuilt Bateau Lavoir studio where Picasso and co set up their easels.

Take the steps and turn left at Rue des Abbesses to reach the Guimard designed metro station at Place des Abbesses.
